Published by Thermiakos Editions, one of the most widely read children's books, "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, illustrated by Irini Skoura. The narrator of the story, who is a pilot, is forced to make an emergency landing in the African desert because his aircraft has a mechanical failure. There he meets a tiny little man, the little prince, who has left his home, asteroid B-612, to learn new things. A beautiful friendship develops between them, and the little prince recounts to the narrator his wanderings on other planets and whom he met.
Although the book is considered a children's book, it actually addresses everyone, young and old, as the adventures of the little hero during his wanderings in the Universe and on Earth contain some observations about life and people that could be characterized as philosophical. Indeed, the essence of the book is contained in the words of the fox to the little prince: "One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eyes."
Author Biography
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (June 29, 1900 - July 31, 1944) was a French writer, known to the general public for his book The Little Prince, which has been translated into 250 languages and is considered one of the most widely read books in the world. It ranks second from the top of the list: Books with more than 100 million copies sold. However, Saint-Exupéry was not just a storyteller but a deeply philosophical person who captured life and analyzed its purpose. In this regard, the works that characterize him perfectly are his books Night Flight and Wind, Sand and Stars, which encapsulate his philosophy.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry dedicated most of his life to conquering the skies as a pilot in commercial aviation, of which he is historically one of the great pioneers. He was also a leading factor in the creation of the first international French commercial company from which Air France emerged, was a test pilot for Air France, and fought in World War II during the fall of France, where he was decorated, only to be killed in 1944.
