Louis R. Feuillard (1872-1941) is known as the teacher of Paul Tortelier, who described him as a man with an exceptional sense of pedagogy. His daily exercises cover the most important areas of cello technique, such as:

• Exercises in finger positions
• Exercises that encompass the entire cello
• Exercises with thumb attachment
• Double chords
• Exercises with the bow

Due to the logical structure of the exercises, they have become one of the standard works in cello study literature since their first appearance in 1919.
