Flexible Ethernet Networking
In addition to the traditional Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), and Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), the eKitEngine S220 series switches support the latest industry standard Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS). ERPS is defined in ITU-T G.8032. It provides millisecond-level protection switching based on traditional MAC Ethernet and bridging functions.
Cloud Management
The Huawei eKit application allows users to configure, monitor, and inspect switches in the cloud, reducing installation and O&M labor costs and lowering network OPEX. The eKitEngine S220 series switches support both cloud management and on-premises management functions. These two management modes can be flexibly switched as needed to achieve smooth evolution while maximizing return on investment (ROI).
Differentiated Security Control
The eKitEngine S220 series switches support multiple security authentication functions, including MAC address authentication and 802.1X authentication, and provide dynamic user policies (VLAN, QoS, and ACL). The switches support port-based 802.1X authentication, MAC address authentication, and multi-function authentication.
The eKitEngine S220 series switches provide a range of mechanisms to defend against DoS attacks and targeted user attacks. DoS attacks include SYN flood, Land, Smurf, and ICMP attacks. Targeted user attacks include fake DHCP server attacks and other similar attacks.
The switches can create and maintain DHCP snooping binding entries and discard invalid packets. Trusted and untrusted DHCP snooping ports can be defined to ensure that users connect only to the authorized DHCP server.
Smart Upgrade
Based on the Huawei Online Upgrade Platform (HOUP), the eKitEngine S220 series switches support smart upgrades. They obtain the upgrade path from HOUP and download the new system software. The upgrade process is automated and supports one-click upgrades.
The smart upgrade simplifies device upgrade operations, enabling customers to upgrade versions by themselves, reducing maintenance costs. The HOUP upgrade policy is used to standardize the upgrade path, significantly reducing the risk of upgrade failure.
