Model figure 1:72 P-51A Mustang - 1423 by Italeri. Unassembled 1/72 scale plastic model of a World War II P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft.
The P-51 was built in over 15,000 units and became the backbone of the US fighter squadrons in the European theater. In the Pacific, P-51s reached significant numbers in 1944, immediately after the end of the war in Europe.
The P-51A version (in the British Army Mustang II) used an Allison engine with a three-blade propeller. The main armament consisted of four .50 in (12.7 mm) Browning machine guns, two in each wing. This version also added wing mounts for 75 or 150 US gallon tanks to increase range.
It is an original Italeri kit, first designed in 1997, as an “F-51D” version. The following year, parts were added to create the P-51 (P-51A) as contained in this “new” packaging. The kit includes a decal sheet with 6 markings, including one from the RAF and one from the RNAS (Royal Navy Air Service).
