Description

Slave Zero X is a stylish 2.5D action character game set in the biopunk world of Slave Zero (1999). Run and slash your way through a dystopian future in this character action game that will appeal to fans of Devil May Cry, Strider, and Guilty Gear.

Story

From the top of the metropolis S1-9, the dominant Han rules with fists of iron and flesh. Beneath the city's rotten foundations, a vengeful warrior embarks on a journey to assassinate him. 5 years before the events of Slave Zero, Slave Zero X breathes new life into a world where horrific, living machines known as Slaves are poised to become the latest tools of war in humanity's long and bloody history.

A secret group of warriors, known as The Guardians, hopes to stop the unleashing of these biomachines upon the world, but a swordsman from their ranks has a different idea: to use the enemy's own weapon against him. Merging with a stolen prototype Slave Unit, Shou will become a raging Devil seeking to kill a false God.

Killer Combos

Use quick swordplay, explosive ammunition, and stylish combos against an army of flesh and metal.

Death from Above

The juggling in the air, the dashes, and the frequent switching of targets allow you to neutralize enemies of any size, while wall jumps and platforming can help you outmaneuver your foes.

Fight for Your Life

Conquer mini-bosses, set pieces, and escalating 1-on-1 encounters that offer intense challenges against unforgettable villains.

Power is nothing without control

Use the Training Room to hone precise and powerful moves to combine devastating attack sequences.

Battle to the beat

A '90s-inspired soundtrack features heavy Drum'n'Bass and funky industrial music that adds to the thrill of the battle.

Feast your eyes

A unique visual aesthetic combines nostalgic 2D sprites with an advanced lighting system and stylized 3D environments.

The end is never the end

After completing the campaign, new challenges await you in an extended and frenzied procedural challenge tower "Bloody Palace" with an online high score leaderboard.

  • This review is about the edition: Calamity

As a Beat 'em up, I consider it top-notch, with fantastic designs, a very enjoyable combat system, nice bosses, and a solid plot. This edition has various trinkets, and out of all of them, I would say the art book is my favorite and the main reason I chose this edition. Besides that, it's worth noting that the case in this edition as well as in the standard one has a very good manual with plenty of pages. It's a bit of a challenging game, but I believe it's worth it
