Covid-19 seems to be a form of dirty bomb, thrown into the body to cause destruction. On the same day the UK government made the first of two decisive interventions that led to a noticeably delayed lockdown, David Hare contracted Covid-19. No one seemed to know much then, and many doctors are not sure if they know much more today. Suffering from a parade of seemingly random symptoms, Hare recalls the delirium of his illness, which blends with fear, dream, sincere medicine, and dishonest politics to create a monologue of furious urgency and power.
