We call fairies the demonic forces that the superstitious people believed lived outside traditional society and represented the personification of their fears and anxieties.

In this book, you will read in detail about the twenty-one fairies that are most commonly found in Greek traditions - their place and manner of action, their characteristics, their origin, and their relationships.

This presentation is accompanied by one or more stories (a total of forty-eight) that borrow elements from many traditions across Greece, attempting to convey to the modern reader the general image that the person from traditional society had of each fairy.

In the stories, as well as in the illustrations by Dionysis Konstantopoulos, a different image of Greece appears, a darker one, an image that is more related to the world of the fantastic, of fear, and of superstition.
