This book focuses on the history of the villages of the former province of Ilia in the year of the Ottoman conquest (1460), and therefore also on the history of these villages during the later Byzantine years.
Ninety-four villages from that era are examined by name, from a demographic perspective (where all the names of their inhabitants are recorded), as well as ethnological and economic aspects, along with the fate of these villages during the Ottoman rule. Additionally, it discusses the history of some other villages that emerged in the area during the Turkish occupation, such as Pyrgos.
This book is aimed at anyone interested in local Ilian and, more generally, Peloponnesian history, historians, researchers, and especially the residents of today's villages and towns, who as readers will become acquainted with the history of their land, and will walk and converse with the former inhabitants of their villages, thereby sensing their roots.
