Hlias P. Boutieridis, multifaceted and charismatic, widely known as essentially the first historian of Modern Greek Literature, but tested in all forms of discourse (journalist - war correspondent, columnist, article writer, chronicler, poet, prose writer, playwright, essayist, critic, translator) left an extensive and significant work in its diversity.
The inexhaustible remnants of his work were preserved and processed with zeal and exemplary dedication by his son, Periklis Boutieridis. A part of his archive, concerning the period of the Asia Minor Campaign and Catastrophe (specifically from May 1921 to August 1922), was utilized in two editions by the Association for the Dissemination of Useful Books.
The book titled "History Will Never Forget. 1921-1922," includes Boutieridis's reports from the military operations of 1921, published from June 2 to November 30 in the newspaper "Empros"; letters from the same period to his wife Natalia; a selection of his articles in "Synadelfos" - the official newspaper of the Asia Minor Army, of which he was the director and chief editor - from March 18 to August 14, 1922; and two extensive publications, on August 27 and 28, 1922 in the newspaper "I Kathimerini," about the fierce Turkish attack, the collapse of the front, and the last Greek days of Smyrna.
This album includes 274 photographs from the 1921 campaign and the diary (for the same period) of Hlias Boutieridis. At that time, Boutieridis was 47 years old, president of the Union of Athenian Newspaper Editors, had fought in Crete in 1897, had served as a correspondent for the newspaper "Patris" during the Balkan Wars, and had thus been "kneaded" with life on the battlefield, maintaining direct contact with the soldiers.
