Sometimes, in order for people to understand the meaning of what I say, I have to step down from the stage. And this is not because they can't see me on that huge stage. I wear bright orange clothes because of my solitary shape. Anyone can easily spot me even from the other side of the city. Much more so inside an auditorium. However, I thought that if I walked at the same level as them and looked them in the eyes, I would be clearer by telling them: "Our choices in life determine our journey. Most of what happens around us is beyond our control, but how we react always depends on us." In 2019, I was invited to speak in Singapore at the Teachers of the Century conference. A thousand young people were literally hanging on my every word, thinking that as a monk I would speak about something very serious. However, I always believe that a complex issue can become simple through humor.
Sometimes, spiritual, scientific, or psychological issues can be presented as high ideals that no one can approach. But things don't have to be that way. My teachers always told me: "The ability to explain complex topics simply is a sign of intelligence." That has always been my mission: to present ideas that can change people's lives in an easy-to-understand and entertaining way. Most people's lives are so intense that they need relief. They first want to have fun before they can consider self-improvement. That's why I tell them jokes. Although everything I say is serious and can help people if applied in their daily lives, through humor and stories I manage to touch their hearts and help them more effectively.
