Historical background: The AH-64 A Apache helicopter was created by Hughes (which was eventually absorbed by McDonnell Douglas and later incorporated into Boeing) in response to the requirements of the Advanced Attack Helicopter program for the US Army Aviation. The prototype achieved flight on 30.09.1975. Mass production began in 1983, and the first unit reached operational readiness in July 1986. In total, the US Army Aviation purchased 827 units, while over 200 helicopters were exported. They are used by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates. The Netherlands leased 12 helicopters for crew training before the delivery of the ordered ones.
