Description

Professional large-diaphragm condenser microphone MXL 770, multi-purpose, ideal for vocal recordings. Delivers consistent low frequencies and clear highs. Includes shock mount and hard carrying and storage case.

Technical Architecture & Capsule

The microphone features a 22mm capsule with a gold-plated diaphragm of 6 micron thickness. It operates on the pressure gradient principle and has a cardioid polar pattern. The preamplification is based on FET technology, providing a balanced signal output. The internal wiring is implemented exclusively with MOGAMI cables, ensuring signal integrity. It requires Phantom Power 48V (± 4V) and the body dimensions are 60 mm x 154 mm.

Sound Performance & Signal

The frequency response ranges from 30 Hz to 20 kHz, with a sensitivity of 15mV/Pa and a nominal impedance of 150 Ohm. The equivalent noise level is measured at 20 dB (A-weighted IEC 268-4) and the signal-to-noise ratio (S/N Ratio) is 74 dB. The microphone handles a maximum sound pressure level (Max SPL) of up to 137 dB for a total harmonic distortion (THD) of 0.5%, allowing safe recording of sources with high dynamics.

Filters & Customization

The microphone body incorporates control switches for adapting to recording conditions. A selectable attenuator (Pad) -10 dB is provided for handling extreme volume levels without overloading the preamp. Additionally, it features a high-pass filter (High Pass Filter) with a 6 dB/octave slope at 150Hz, which minimizes interference from structural noise and controls the proximity effect during recording.
