At the beginning of the game, the first player places a randomly combined sequence of four colorful balls in the hidden part of the board. (By mutual agreement, the same color ball may be repeated multiple times). The second player tries to guess this combination by gradually creating their own sequence of four balls in each row of the board. The first player evaluates each attempt with the help of small evaluation balls as follows:
- For each game ball that the guesser has placed in the correct color and correct position, a black ball is awarded.
- For each game ball that the guesser has placed in the correct color but in the wrong position, a white ball is awarded.
The guesser does not know which game balls have been awarded the evaluation balls. The game ends when the guesser guesses the combination (thus, the winning attempt is evaluated with the maximum number of black balls), or when all the rows on the board are exhausted without guessing the combination. Then, the players switch roles and the game continues. The winner is the player who took fewer attempts to guess.
