    A lightning struck a PPC pole that caught fire near my house. I had a computer with a TV plugged into this power strip. The TV was off (not on standby) and the computer was also off from the UPS. The power surge passed through the grounding and via the TV, which I have connected with an HDMI cable to the graphics card, it burned the signal output port. Luckily, the graphics card has a second output port, so it didn't go to waste. Conclusion: do not rely on these power strips. It's better to unplug your devices when lightning approaches.
