Description & Specifications

In January 630, when Muhammad, along with his followers, made a triumphant entry into Mecca, the stronghold of the powerful tribe of the Quraysh Arabs, he solidified the dominance of his movement in Hejaz under the banner of Islam. A new chapter was opening in world history, with enough pages to describe the overwhelming expansion of Muslims, like a drop of oil on paper, which resulted in their dominance over a vast territory between the western shores of the Mediterranean and the eastern ones of the Atlantic, stretching to the northwestern parts of the Indian Ocean.

Where today the lands of North Africa (Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt), Spain, Portugal, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, southeastern Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, UAE, Qatar, Iraq, Iran, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan lie.

This epic story of approximately seven centuries, whose narration concludes with the reconquest of the entirety of the Iberian Peninsula by the Christians of Castile and Aragon, is brought to life by the twenty-nine sections of the Trilogy of the Caliphates in chronological order, covering political, military, religious, and cultural history.

The creation of the successors of Muhammad, the caliphs of Medina, the various Islamic dynasties that followed, and their protagonists, such as those of the Umayyads of Damascus and Córdoba, Abbasids, Fatimids, Buwayhids, Samanids, Hamdanids, Ayyubids, Seljuks of Rum and Baghdad, Nizaris, Mamluks, Almoravids, Almohads, Nasrids, and others, with the key cities of many of them serving as cradles of cutting-edge scientific developments and general scholarship, when their contemporaneous successors of the Romans in the West were characteristically lagging behind, and those in the Byzantine East were struggling to maintain their truncated gains after the Islamic onslaught, except for the times of resurgence during the early centuries of the glorious Macedonian dynasty.
