De Blob 2 for Nintendo DS is a 3D action platformer in which Blob paints areas and changes colors by mixing them. As new elements come together, the paintball grows, while certain walls can strip away his colors. Along the way, he faces a variety of enemies and uses powers such as a shield and an energy sphere that absorbs nearby enemies.

It includes 12 new single-player story levels, with options to choose colors, models, and music. The adventure takes you through frozen outposts, tropical biodomes, and remote space stations, with missions and boss battles. Some levels are presented in 2D, with movement limited to left or right and an emphasis on combat. There are also new cooperative multiplayer modes.
