The christening oilcloth is designed to gently absorb the oil and holy chrism from your child's body. This is why it is made from high-quality cotton. A set of oilcloths consists of the oilcloth, the towel, the small towel, as well as the undergarments that come in direct contact with your child.

Cleansing the oilcloths after the ceremony is an important process. According to tradition, the godmother along with the mother must rinse it 3 times in the sea or river. The purpose is not to make them perfectly clean but to retain the scent of the chrism and oil.

The holy chrism used in the baptism is prepared every ten years by the Patriarch. For storing the oilcloths, it is recommended to wrap them in garment storage paper along with a white Marseille soap to keep the scent of soap and chrism.
