St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum)
According to tradition, St. John's Wort, also known as balm herb, is suitable for the treatment of mild depression.
Recipe: For one cup of tea, add a teaspoon of the herb to hot water (80-90°C) and cover it for 5-8 minutes to keep the steam inside the cup. Then strain and serve. Add honey, milk, or lemon if desired.
Precautions: The information provided about the herbs and their properties is drawn from books, scientific writings, and research. In case of pregnancy, taking medications, and dietary supplements, consult your doctor before consuming herbs. It may affect the metabolism of certain enzymes, so caution is needed when taken simultaneously with other medications.
Additionally, those using Hypericum should stop if they are taking pharmaceutical preparations that contain the following active substances: indinavir, cyclosporine, theophylline, digoxin, panwarfin, and contraceptives. Because Hypericum affects neurotransmitters, it may interact with various psychotropic medications, including other antidepressants.
Storage of herbs: Store the herbs in glass jars in a shaded, dark, and cool place.
