Tantric Buddhism is believed to have originated from the region of Bengal and spread throughout the Asian world, as well as to the West.
According to the teachings of Tantric Buddhism, or the Diamond Path, there are three stages in the apprenticeship of the seeker: in the first stage, life is a form of responsibility, in the second stage, life is a form of duty, while in the third stage, life is a form of skillful expression and action that embraces responsibility and duty within creative dedication. Life in its diverse aspects becomes a practical art of expressing a creative relationship with the absolute truth within the framework of universal Life.
Tantra is the culmination of the union of absolute and relative knowledge, of inner perception and compassion. In this text, the fundamental principles of the famous mahasiddhas, the wandering ascetics and yogis who expressed through their life and words the teachings of the Diamond Path, are presented along with explanatory comments that make them understandable in our modern world.
