Frosthaven is the story of a small outpost far from the capital White Oak, an outpost that survives under harsh weather conditions as well as attacks from known and unknown forces. There, a group of mercenaries at the end of their endurance will try to bring this settlement back from the brink of destruction. They must face not only the fierce elements of nature, but there are also other, much more dangerous threats in the severe cold. There are the Algox, the larger and cheesier cousins of the Inox, attacking from the mountains, the Lurkers flooding in from the northern sea, and rumors of machines wandering the frozen deserts with their own will. The group of mercenaries must confront all these threats and perhaps achieve reconciliation with the new races to collaborate against even more malevolent forces.

Frosthaven is a standalone adventure from the designer and publisher of Gloomhaven, featuring sixteen new characters, three new races, over twenty new enemies, more than a hundred new items, and a new campaign with 100 scenarios. Characters and items from Gloomhaven will be available in Frosthaven and vice versa.

In addition to the well-known combat mechanisms of Gloomhaven, Frosthaven will offer much more beyond combat, such as many mysteries to solve, a seasonal event system for players to experience, and player control over the expansion of this messy village, with each new building offering new ways to progress.

Frosthaven features an entirely new set of items, but there is a mechanism for transferring items from Gloomhaven. However, as it is a remote location, these products are imported and not available as standard. Resources have much greater value, and you must craft items through a crafting system rather than buying them directly.
