Description

The LifeStraw Go Series is ideal for safe and flavorful water during travel and everyday use. The bottle is made from stainless steel with double-wall insulation that keeps water cool. It features a two-stage filter that removes contaminants from sources such as toilets and taps in foreign countries.

  • First stage: The activated carbon filter reduces chlorine, unwanted tastes, and volatile organic compounds.
  • Second stage: The filtration membrane neutralizes 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.9% of protozoa.

The lifespan of the activated carbon filter is about 100 liters, while the second filter lasts at least 4,000 liters. The Lifestraw Go meets the strict standards of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

It does not require electricity or batteries and leaves no aftertaste in the water. After use, you can blow air to clean the filter and rinse the bottle with water.

Note: Water filters are non-returnable for sanitary reasons.

Good construction and the filter retains many harmful elements from water in springs and rivers (e.g., sediments, bacteria, and parasites) but not chemical substances, pesticides, and viruses, so it is useful if you drink from a tap in a country that does not have drinking water or a stream far away in nature, but it is not recommended if the stream is close to a settlement or crops.

I took off two stars because it is promoted as a bottle that you can carry with you on hikes, but the filter is so tight to drink from that you have to exert force to suck, and in the end, it is very tiring since the filtering happens while you drink and not when you fill it. It is good in case of emergency if you run out of clean water, but if you want it for continuous use on a hike, it will tire you out. If you have already filled it with clean water, then you can unscrew the filter so it doesn't hinder you and use it as a simple water bottle (it has a cap on the lid, and as far as I tested, I had no leaks) - but for such plain use without a filter, you will find other much cheaper options.

In short, its use is in case of emergency when you run out of clean water. If you intend to rely on the water you find to drink during the day on an outing/hike/mountaineering, then it will tire you out, and look for something else (possibly the same product in plastic might be better because it is squeezed and you don't need to suck so much?).
