The RISE system (Rigid Limb Stabilization System) is a sturdy, low-profile splint designed for limb fractures and pelvic stabilization in prehospital settings. It was developed from battlefield experience and can be intuitively applied to create a 90-degree splint or pelvic stabilizer. It can be easily secured to the patient using an elastic or compression bandage.
The immobilization system folds in a way that allows the splint to collapse for maximum portability and space-saving in any first aid kit, while easily adjusting for proper immobilization of upper and lower limb fractures. With its compact size, the RISE fits in most individual first aid kits, including all standard military IFAKs.
The RISE system features multiple notches along the splint, which allows you to create a pelvic immobilizer when combined with a tourniquet, such as the SOF® Tourniquet. The Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) recognizes the splint and pelvic immobilization application as a critical step in preventing further injury before transporting a casualty.
The unique design is made from a lightweight polymer material, capable of withstanding surface cleaning and harsh elements, including saltwater, while maintaining its rigidity and durability. Whether in the battlefield or as first responders in an urban environment, the RISE is a cost-effective addition to any IFAK to enhance medical capability at the point of injury when needed.
