The lightweight polymer material withstands surface cleaning and harsh conditions, such as exposure to salt water, while retaining its rigidity and strength.

The splint folds for easy transport and storage in first-aid kits. It is secured to the patient with an elastic or compression bandage, while its notches allow it to be configured as a pelvic stabilizer in combination with a tourniquet.
