The acclaimed poet and playwright Liz Lochhead adapts "Dracula" while remaining faithful to Bram Stoker's classic novel. Through her experience adapting it for the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, she immersed herself in the book. In the General Introduction, she describes the terrifying images that accompanied her, such as the deranged Renfield and Lucy's nightmares, which refer to dreams with Dracula. The work incorporates the sense of anxiety and horror, expressing Stoker's tradition.
The stage adaptation of Dracula was first presented at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in 1985 and is suitable for schools and theater groups. This version has become even more chilling thanks to its fidelity to Stoker's original novel.
