Description

More than 50 years have passed since the sacred mushrooms were removed from the shamanic realms of Mexico and introduced to the modern world by R. Gordon Wasson. After the launch of the psychedelic era of the 1960s, however, the divine mushroom returned to the underground from which it mysteriously originated. Today, the remarkable influence of the mushroom is once again felt by a large number of people, due to the discovery of hundreds of wild psilocybin species growing around the world.

In the book The Psilocybin Solution, Simon G. Powell documents the history of the sacred psilocybin mushroom and discusses the visual effects it can produce. He analyzes how psilocybin acts as a profound enhancer of consciousness and re-examines the research conducted by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), Johns Hopkins University, and the Heffter Research Institute regarding psilocybin’s ability to dissolve anxiety in patients with terminal illness and its beneficial effects on distress in obsessive-compulsive disorder.

He explores the neurochemistry, psychology, and spirituality underlying the visual experience with psilocybin, revealing the intersection where the physical brain meets conscious thought. He demonstrates that the existence of life and the functioning of the mind are the result of a naturally intelligent, self-organizing Universe and explains how the sacred mushrooms provide a direct connection to the wisdom of Nature and the meaning of life.
