A very beloved image that can be found in most homes with the names Kostas and Eleni! This wonderful wooden carving is based on the Byzantine icon of Saint Constantine and his mother Saint Helen, with the Holy Cross dominating the center.
Saint Constantine, or the Great Constantine, was a Roman emperor who later embraced Christianity, and his philanthropic mother Saint Helen was the one who found the Holy Cross when she went to Jerusalem, which is why we always see Him next to them in the icon.
In the wooden carving, we see their names carved above their faces, and the image is surrounded by a beautiful detailed lattice of flowers that tempts you to color it with your favorite shades and materials.
