Rice flour (also known as rice powder) is a type of flour made from ground rice. It is different from rice starch, which is usually produced by soaking rice in lye.
Rice flour can be made from either white or brown rice. To make the flour, the husk of the paddy rice is removed and raw rice is obtained, which is then milled into flour.
Rice flour is an especially good substitute for wheat flour, which can cause digestive irritation for those with gluten intolerance.
