It's not that it doesn't do its job at all, but I don't think the point is to maintain your weight—or at least stay close to it—by visiting the bathroom quite often. I will continue to evaluate it, but for now it is a marginally appropriate solution for me, and with the above side effects, it does not predispose me to continue using it without a second thought.
