Our potato has no desire to take even a step. It has everything as close as possible so that it never has to get up from the sunken cushion of the couch. But isn’t this the best way to spend its life? Could it be that the sunlight and fresh air are better than what it sees on TV?

It is a big thing to be a potato. Especially when you are a lounging potato – lounging on the couch. Because the couch is convenient. The couch is comfortable. The couch offers everything. It offers relaxation, a good position to play video games and watch series. From a distance, all of it. Far away. Without getting involved, safely.

But how hard is it to take the first step and go out into the world? To live the real life and not a life mediated by screens?

One of the biggest educational dilemmas today concerns the time children spend in front of screens and how parents should manage this.

But perhaps the solution is a power outage. Something that will pull the little lounging potato off its couch and push it to live real life. We don't have to be at extremes: either screens only, or outside only. There is always the middle ground. Balance.
