The “Cinema 2023” has been released by P.E.K.K. The Panhellenic Union of Film Critics publishes for the 31st consecutive year the edition “Cinema”, the unique record of our cinematic reality in Greek literature, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
In the 508 pages of “Cinema 2023”, with Dimitris Koliadis as the editor and publishing supervisor, we find: Critical analysis of all the films released in Greek theaters during last year (January 1 to December 31, 2023), with texts from members of P.E.K.K. that were published in the Greek press and/or online. A detailed box office report for the year and commentary by Dimitris Koliadis.
The annual voting, through which Greek film critics every year highlight the best Greek and foreign film of the year, this year brought to the top the film Behind the Haystacks by Asimina Proedrou and, on the other hand, the films Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer and Fallen Leaves by Aki Kaurismäki (tied for first place).
In the edition Cinema 2023 we also find: An introductory comment on the critics' awards from the President of P.E.K.K. Vasilis Kehagias, a detailed record of new books on cinema and its protagonists by Dimitris Kalantidis, President of the Federation of Film Clubs of Greece, and a tribute to the people of cinema who have “left” us, with a complete In Memory of by film critic Kostas G. Karderinis.
Reviews are published by: Pavlina Agalianou, Babis Aktsoglou, Giagos Antiokhos, Giannis Vasileiou, and others.
The publication contains 4 complete indexes (of Greek titles, foreign titles, directors, and critics-authors) and rich illustrations.
