Based on his long-standing journalistic career, Panos Sobolos narrates how he experienced, followed, and recorded a series of crimes—from brutal murders to high-profile cases that shocked public opinion.
Many colleagues as well as ordinary citizens, with whom I come into contact and discuss various shocking cases that I have handled and experienced during my long journalistic career, encouraged me to document them, to capture them in a book.
These are experiences of a lifetime. Within the pages of the book, the reader will find the brutal crimes that captivated public interest for days or even many weeks, due to their terrifying intrigue. These are the crimes that -as the title suggests- shocked Greece.
It goes without saying that all the cases I describe are entirely true. They do not contain fictional scenes or hypothetical details. Nor have I tried to present them as more tragic than they were. I recorded what I saw and experienced, always reporting on the site where the events took place.
The savage murders and other crimes included in the book have been documented with great care, without exaggerations, without a trace of distortion of the actual events. I am confident that many of these cases will also serve the historian of the future, due to their authenticity and the faithful recording of the actual events alone.
