Description

The AΓΡΑ Publications inaugurate the psychoanalytic series “ROUS,” led by MARILIA EISENSTEIN-AVEROFF, PANOS ALOUPIS, and GIORGOS STATHOPOULOS. The series will include, in addition to Notebooks, essays by psychoanalysts, with a central theme concerning the inseparable relationships between mind and body and the dual instinctual nature of humans. Each Notebook will contain a classic text on these topics, an introduction by an expert on the proposed author, and an afterword by a guest writer, who is inspired by the central text.

The first Notebook presents the famous text by PIERRE FÉDIDA “WHERE DOES THE HUMAN BODY BEGIN?”. In this essay, the psychoanalyst and teacher Pierre Fedida guides us through the origins of psychoanalysis and takes us into its realm, through fruitful meetings and dialogues with colleagues and people from the arts, philosophy, and literature. “The ‘beastly’ organ of ‘piercing cries’ and unrestrained pleasure, such is the human mouth... Behind the lying patient, the opening of the mouth of discourse is an opening to the origin of the body, which it will no longer be possible to definitively say where it begins.”

With this text, we come into contact with valuable clinical thought, where the psychoanalytic process, thanks to spoken language, allows access to the voice of a body that perpetually oscillates between the loss of depression and the obliteration of melancholy. The psychoanalyst, like every person, because they live and think, confronts daily the echo of death.
