With a glass of beer, someone opens the head of a young soccer team supporter in a well-known restaurant in Stockholm. The young man dies. This is essentially an incident of the usual gray and raw everyday life in the city center.
The investigation is taken over by a pair of punished investigators, Paul Gelm and Sersin Holm, who come from Team Alpha. And something happens. Behind the broken beer glass, a different sequence of events begins to emerge, leading in many directions: to the prisons of Kumla, where a cell explodes, to the industrial area of Sickla, where a cleansing of underworld figures takes place, to Danderyd, where a drug dealer tends to his paradise garden, to the police force, where a senior officer behaves strangely, to the future, where a threat of a terrorist act suddenly appears, and to the past, where the deeper layers of hell start to become discernible.
