Description

The principles of modern Freemasonry date back to the year 1717, when, as various historians narrate, the 4 known Lodges of London decided to form a Grand Lodge, to remain faithful to the spirit and traditions of the ancient Brotherhood of workers of the Great Art, and to almost replace operative Masonry with the speculative one, which we have today. We do not want to say that before 1717 there was no speculative Masonry, if not, of course, in its current form, but certainly with a similar structural core, since as early as 1356 we have written historical evidence of the operation of the theoretical Lodge "Admission", which was an affiliate of the Society of London and accepted as members only recognized Masons. However, we find it historically useful to emphasize that modern Masonry takes flesh and bones and a precise historical orientation from the 24th day of June, the feast of St. John the Baptist, in the year 1717.
