We live in an era of rapid changes and great challenges: climate change, increasing economic inequalities, the 4th Industrial Revolution, intensification of geopolitical conflicts. The effort to tackle these problems has led to new perceptions and international agreements on sustainable development and climate change. Goals are set but not achieved, as political will is lacking. This is because powerful economic forces do not desire meaningful changes, reaping huge economic benefits and reinforcing their dominance from the current state of affairs. Thus, problems continue to worsen.
This book examines the international framework of developments and the state in which the Greek economy and society find themselves following the devastation caused by the memorandums. The analysis of statistical data reveals that in critical sectors, the situation today is worse than it was in the 2000s, and our distance from the community average has significantly increased. The main causes of the decline the country has entered and the conditions for overcoming it are significant issues that concern us.
