The 1st MBT expansion focuses on the armored and mechanized forces of the Federal Republic of Germany. The West German forces, ready to defend the Homeland from the impending Soviet attack, include the intergovernmental panzer and panzergrenadier divisions, which are not merely shadows of their counterparts from World War II. This time, the forces include Leopard tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles, and Jaguar tank destroyers. The 1st Corps is part of NATO's Northern Army Group (NORTHAG) along with the BAOR, while the 2nd and 3rd Corps are with the US 7th Army in NATO's Central Army Group (CENTAG).
This package includes 10 new scenarios. The 4 new double-sided geomorphic maps can be combined with all other maps from the base MBT edition and expansions to create new battlefield terrains. Detailed TO&Es for the West German Forces are included. As a new feature, 10 double-sided leader counters per force are included, totaling 30 counters (USA, Germany, and Soviets). To play this expansion, only the base MBT edition is required.
