Description

Angeliki is not in the mood – nor has the energy – for sex. She works extremely hard, is the mother of two five-year-old twin boys who drive her crazy, and her exhaustion is so overwhelming that she doesn't feel at all lovable.

As much as she loves her family, she envies her friends for their independence. Her husband, Kostas, on the other hand, has become overly passionate and won’t leave her alone. Could it be his insecurities, a midlife crisis, or perhaps his sudden urges are due to secret, casual encounters with other women?

As if all of this weren't enough, Stelios, Angeliki's self-centered, narcissistic ex, begins to obsessively and sweetly pursue her after sixteen years of absence. A comedic story about the daily life of working mothers, love that needs the right conditions to bloom despite the passage of time, and sex, that very human need that we often avoid, even when we feel the spark of it.

  • Paper quality
  • Was it easy to read?
  • Was it interesting enough?
  • I liked the writing style
  • I would read a book by the same author
  • I would recommend it for reading
  • How much laughter this book gave me! How many stories of everyday reality (and madness?) how much #justfromthevillage reminded me 100 times in 100 incidents and 100 quotes.

I really liked the deep dive into the protagonist's perspective. And the outlook on the relationship. And on relationships. And the scenes. And the settings. And all the times I laughed by myself, that is, on almost every page of it.

It has some moments with good humor that will make you laugh, but I can't say that it's enough to characterize it as good and worth reading. I'm somewhat on the fence about this particular book. However, I appreciate Auguste Corteau and have read quite a few of his books. It's worth engaging with his literary work.

  • I laughed a lot, it's true. Otherwise, it describes everyday life with colors that are sometimes vibrant and sometimes dark, but always with a generous dose of humor.

  • I read it in one day! Light-hearted, humorous. I expected an ending with more interest, however. Nevertheless, I recommend it.

August Corto does not need special recommendations and his new release confirms it once again! His incredible humor and delightful modern writing made me finish the book in 1 day! I simply love it!
