Slowly, slowly, a sloth crawled onto the branch of a tree.
Slowly, slowly, the sloth ate a leaf.
Slowly, slowly, it fell asleep.
Slowly, slowly, the sloth woke up.
All day long, the sloth hung upside down in the tree.
All night long, the sloth hung upside down in the tree.
Even when it rained, the sloth hung upside down in the tree.
Why should we always be in a hurry? Quick. Quick. Quick. We rush from one place to another. We play games on the computer and then –whoosh!– we press the button to watch television. And we grab something to eat. Everyone tells us to hurry up!
Make it quick! Time is passing! Step on the gas! And there’s very little time left to see our friends, enjoy the sunset, or look at a sky full of stars. And yet, there is something –even just a little bit– we could learn from the kind-hearted sloth that crawls slowly, slowly, and slowly on a branch, eats a little, sleeps a lot, and lives a peaceful life.
