The ratchet allows quick work without the need to constantly place the socket on the screw head or nut. The rotation direction changes using a rotation switch, usually located on the ratchet head.
The most important parameter of any ratchet is the number of teeth on the ratchet's ring. The more teeth on the ring, the less movement is needed to turn the screw.
The special component has several dozen cuts around its circumference (45 or 72). There are also two pawls arranged in a mirror layout and a small switch connected with a screw (pin) used for selecting the operating direction of the wrench. Depending on the side we move the switch, the sleeve will lock with the right or the left pawl, corresponding to loosening or tightening the screw.
