Everyone says that the political situation cannot continue like this, and most are passively waiting for a new "savior." Friends and acquaintances of mine know my obsession with insisting that it is not the individuals in politics who are to blame, and therefore no "savior" will come to free us from this political malaise.
The problem lies in our political system, with the rules by which it operates. It disregards the opinions of citizens, consequently rendering them inactive as engaged citizens. To improve the functioning of our government, it must become more democratic. However, to make something better, one must understand how it works.
Unfortunately, most ordinary people are unaware of the real meaning of the terms used in relation to the functioning of democracy. The state has neglected to incorporate this information into public education, considering it self-evident and therefore an unnecessary process. The scant interest of many in studying theoretical books, along with the absence of simple informational texts, perpetuates a destructive ignorance regarding the national political present and future.
With the book "When We Say Democracy...", an attempt is made to provide at least a minimal contribution to filling this gap, with very simplified texts of narrative character, rich in informative content about democracy.
