Mr. Rat, a truly large rat, went out to find something to eat. He always found something to eat: seeds, fruits, insects, a bit of ham here, a little carrot there, onions, radishes, olives, leftover rice, cheese pies, lentils, and cheeses. These are the perks of being an omnivorous species. And on tough days, he might even eat papers or cables, but he was a foodie and often wanted to eat something special. Like today, when he had a huge craving for EGGS. Eggs, and cooked eggs at that!
He often watched people's kitchens – rats do this sometimes! – hiding behind the refrigerator, in the cabinets, between the blinds and the window, and he learned a lot about food. And after seeing recipes for boiled eggs, poached eggs, eggs Benedict, sunny-side up eggs, egg salads, scrambled eggs, and omelets, he decided to make something simple but delicious. Soft-boiled eggs!
