Drop test for measuring pH in 2 ranges: 4.5-9.0 and 6.8-8.0. Aquatest pH x2 is used for measuring pH in the general range of 4.5-9.0 with an accuracy of 0.5 and in the narrow range of 6.0-8.0 with an accuracy of 0.2.
The measurement method is simple: a few drops of indicator are added to the water sample, the developed color is compared with the zones of the color scale, and the result is read.
Measuring pH is important, as water with appropriate pH is critical for the health of fish in an aquarium. Most fish tolerate water with a pH of 6.0-8.0, while some require acidic water (e.g., 0-6.0) and others alkaline (e.g., cichlids from African lakes - pH 7.8-8.3). Significant changes in pH over a short period should be avoided.
For pH correction, AQUACID (pH reduction - acidification) and AQUALKAL (pH increase - alkalization) are used. The correction should be carried out gradually, diluting the preparation in a ratio of 1:100 (20 ml in 2 liters of water), and checking the pH with Aquatest a few hours after adding the corrective preparation.
