The story begins when Sonic and Tails chase Dr. Eggman, who has discovered the mysterious Lost Hex, a planet in the sky. There, Eggman subjugates the Deadly Six — Zazz, Zeena, Zomom, Zik, Zavok, and Master Zik — using a magical shell. When Sonic destroys the shell, the Deadly Six revolt and turn against everyone, threatening to absorb the life energy from the planet. Sonic must stop them by traversing themed worlds such as Windy Hill, Desert Ruins, Frozen Factory, Silent Forest, Sky Road, and Lava Mountain.
The 3DS version, developed by Dimps, offers exclusive levels, multiplayer mode, StreetPass features, and special stages using the gyroscope. The gameplay combines parkour moves, boosts, Wisp powers, and switching between 2D and 3D perspectives. The game stands out for its speed, variety, and challenge, while the story focuses on cooperation, redemption, and confronting Sonic’s ego.
