The RJ45 plug covers are part of the connection between the cable and the plug. They protect against bending or tearing of the cable, providing a more convenient connection and disconnection of the cables at the sockets. These connections are most often used with twisted pair cables.

Depending on the type of plug, appropriate covers must be used. The external covers that fit onto the plug are suitable for all types of plugs (105-80 to 105-86). Placing covers on the plugs increases their overall width and may cause connection difficulties if many sockets are placed close to each other.

Due to differences in the design of the plug and the need to place the cover precisely, different covers are used depending on the type of plug:
