The ABRSM percussion syllabus from 2020 offers candidates the flexibility to be examined on either one percussion instrument (drum, percussion drum, or adapted percussion) or on all three instruments (in a combined percussion exam) at each level. The syllabus has been reviewed and updated to meet the needs of today's percussion students, and ABRSM's supportive publications provide resources to help candidates prepare for every area of the exam.

The 2020 percussion pieces and studies contain prescribed pieces for drums, percussion drums, and adapted percussion from grades 1-5. Each piece has been specially commissioned for the 2020 percussion, with the complete set of books providing percussionists with 75 brand new pieces across all levels. Including five pieces for each percussion instrument at every grade and covering solo, duet, and accompanied pieces, these books offer a wonderful variety of repertoire for candidates participating in either a Solo or Combined percussion exam.
