Description

THE STORY OF A HIGH-RANKING IRA MAN

For Jerry Bradley, the IRA was his life. At the age of 15, he had to defend his family and neighborhood from the attacks of pro-British gangs for the first time. From then until the end of his turbulent life, he was one of the most devoted and active members of the IRA in Belfast.

For almost three decades, he participated in countless bombings and armed attacks against the British army and pro-government organizations, repeatedly falling victim to betrayal, imprisoned, and tortured for extended periods.

And in the end, when the leadership of the IRA turned towards political action and the guns fell silent, it seemed that there was no longer any place, no present or future, for unrepentant activists like Bradley.

This autobiographical book was written with the assistance of a prominent Irish chronicler of the IRA, Brian Feeney. In addition to the relentless action unfolds in its pages, it also offers the Greek reader the opportunity to read and understand the sequence of bloody events that took place in the modern history of Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom.

It was first published in Ireland in 2010, without the official permission – and censorship – of the IRA. Shortly after the release of the book, the author, after the revelations-confessions he made, isolated and hunted by enemies and former comrades, fell into depression and committed suicide.

With rich photographic material as well as maps of Ireland and Belfast where the events described in the book took place.
