    The plot twist—because obviously Yarros without a plot twist DOES NOT HAPPEN—was very fair and surprising. I don’t think anyone expected it and it really comes out of nowhere, giving a different weight to both our stories.

    I recommend it to all the romantic souls who would prefer letters over messages and who would choose pick-up over Spotify ?

When Noah Harrison, the child prodigy of contemporary American literature, takes on the task of completing the unfinished swan song of Scarlett Stanton, his ambitions clash with the memories and traumas of Georgia. Finding a fitting ending for the book of his beloved author is a significant challenge, but confronting the beautiful, stubborn, cynical great-granddaughter is something entirely different.

"Here." I put my credit card in and walked toward her counter.

"Where is your number?" she asked, extending her hand with a smug, satisfied smile that hadn't changed much since high school.

"I'm the only one here, Juliet." I could feel exhaustion hitting every nerve in my body. If I could just be done with all this, I would curl up in my grandmother's big office armchair and ignore the world for the rest of my life.

"The rules say..."

"Come on, Juliet, stop." Sophie walked into Juliet's office and shot her an exasperated look. "I have Georgia's papers, anyway. Go take a break or do whatever you want."

"Alright." Juliet moved away from the counter, giving her place to Sophie, who had graduated a year before us. "I'm glad to see you, Georgia." She gave me a very sweet smile.

"Me too." I flashed her the practiced smile that had been stuck on my face for the past few years and kept me together while everything around me was falling apart.

"Sorry about that." Sophie made a face, scrunched her nose, and adjusted her glasses. "She’s... well, she hasn't changed much. Anyway, everything looks fine." She handed back the papers I had received the previous afternoon from my lawyer along with a new social security card, and I put them in the envelope.

While my life had fallen apart, the material manifestation of that collapse was neatly arranged at a forty-five-degree angle. How ironic. "I didn’t read the agreement, or whatever it is," she said calmly.

"It was in Celebrity Weekly!" Juliet sang out from the back.

"Not all of us read that trash!" Sophie snapped over her shoulder, then gave me a sympathetic smile. "All of us here are very proud of the way you kept your head up through... all this."
