The Hayman snare drum series was introduced in the late 1960s by an English manufacturer. The aim was to create a series of snare drums that would share the success of the major American companies of the time. Initially, the company had the name George Hayman on its logo, which was later shortened to Hayman.
The secret to the sound of Hayman snare drums is in the inner layer, called Vibrasonic. It is a viscous white polyurethane coating applied by spraying. Its function was to harden the surface of the snare drum, allowing the sound to soar and giving more "crack."
