For a material to be compostable, it must break down within a specific time frame, usually within 90 days. It is important that bags claiming to be compostable are certified according to EN13432 by an independent body.

Compostable bags decompose only in the presence of moisture, air, and microorganisms, i.e., in a controlled composting environment.

To make the most of compostable bags, store them in a cool, dry place.

All waste can be placed in GreenAware bags; however, such a bag cannot be sent to organic waste or a composting facility, as its contents are not compostable.
