Dietary foods for adult cats with struvite disorders.

Indications:

  • Nephrolithiasis caused by struvite
  • Recurring formation of struvite

Additional information:

  • Keeps urine pH low to neutralize the basic environment caused by inflammatory products associated with infections.
  • Low potassium content will help keep urine pH at low levels.
  • The magnesium content is at a safe low level, ensuring that long-term preventive use does not risk hypomagnesemia.
  • Limits the intake of proteins and minerals that lead to the formation of struvite.

Contraindications:

  • Kittens, pregnant and nursing cats
  • Cats receiving urine acidifiers
  • Cats with uroliths not caused by struvite

Urine pH from 6.0 to 6.4 helps reduce the formation of struvite uroliths and dissolve formed struvite crystals. Low Mg levels contribute to reducing the formation of struvite uroliths. The optimal level of Na favors good urine volume without promoting the development of kidney failure.

TIP: it can be used in combination with multifunctional treats (fish) when calcium oxalate formation is not indicated.
