Philosophy was born from discussion, from the competition between worldviews. From the philosophical weigh of the Enlightenment emerged the idea of liberation, a contradictory perspective that Marina Garcés invites us to rethink. The New Radical Enlightenment exposes the need for critical disagreement as a new beginning for the humanities in revealing times. The productive disagreement it envisions is based on the inclusion of multiple perspectives that address common problems. Our societies face the urgent need to combat dogmatism in all its forms. Fundamentalism, authoritarianism, and the struggle of the rich against the poor are returning. We also observe dogmatic approaches to managing science, data, and technology emerging. Addressing this issue, unfinished philosophy is an attempt to make thought exciting again. It is not a matter of feeding barren theories. Young people today need strong tools for critical imagination. Overcoming historicism, the new radical enlightenment aims to address the central problems of modern philosophy and place them within a planetary, post-colonial, and feminist framework: a philosophy for a common world.
